Ethereum NFT Brand Doodles Unveils Solana-Based Token With Major Airdrop

It’s a few minutes when to learn that Ethereum NFT Brand Doodles Unveils Solana-Based Token With Major Airdrop

Doodles, one of the most recognisable names in the NFT world, has launched a new chapter in its evolving story—this time beyond the Ethereum blockchain.

The popular digital collectibles project officially rolled out its DOOD token on the Solana network on Friday, marking a bold pivot for the brand as it looks to expand its reach and relevance both inside and outside the Web3 space.

A Fresh Direction Under New Leadership

The token launch is the first major move under Scott Martin, known widely by his artist moniker Burnt Toast, who took over as CEO in January.

Martin’s appointment signalled a deliberate shift in strategy, aimed at moving away from what he described as the project’s previously “extractive corpo” tendencies.

In a recent interview, Martin reflected on the tightrope walk Doodles has faced: trying to satisfy its crypto-native supporters while simultaneously courting a broader, mainstream audience through partnerships with household names such as McDonald’s and Adidas.

DOOD is our answer to that exact tension,” Martin explained. “Web3 is the infrastructure powering what we do, but we’re building experiences that resonate far beyond the typical crypto crowd.

We’ve always believed you can build something that earns respect from the Web3 community and also feels culturally relevant to someone who’s never touched a wallet before.”

Airdrop Rewards NFT Holders, Trading Goes Live

As part of the launch, 30% of the total DOOD token supply has been distributed via an airdrop to existing Doodles NFT holders.

The airdrop is designed to reward the project’s early supporters while integrating them more closely into the brand’s evolving ecosystem.

Trading for the token is now live on Solana-based platforms, with more details about its utility and future activations expected in the coming weeks.

According to the project team, DOOD will become a central component of the Doodles experience moving forward, potentially unlocking new experiences, exclusive access, and community initiative

DOOD , A Strategic Bet on Solana

The decision to launch the token on Solana, rather than Ethereum, raised eyebrows but appears to be part of a broader strategy to tap into the rapidly growing Solana ecosystem, prized for its lower transaction fees and faster network speeds.

It also positions Doodles among a small but increasing number of Ethereum-based NFT projects branching out to other blockchains.

This cross-chain experiment could signal the start of a new trend for established NFT brands seeking to diversify their audiences and experiment with different ecosystems without abandoning their Ethereum roots.

Ethereum NFT Brand Doodles: A time to Look Ahead now

As Doodles embarks on this next phase, the success of the DOOD token—and how effectively it can bridge Web3-native culture with mainstream appeal may serve as a litmus test for other NFT projects considering similar moves.

Whether this will mark a decisive turning point for the once Ethereum-exclusive darling remains to be seen, but for now, Doodles seems determined to colour outside the lines.
