BehindMLM Boss Slams OneCoin Lawyer Mark Scott Amid Fresh Appeal Denial

In the ever-unfolding saga of the notorious OneCoin scandal, tensions have reignited following the recent rejection of appeals from two central figures in the multi-billion dollar crypto fraud.

Earlier this week, Sebastian Greenwood, co-founder of the infamous OneCoin scheme and longtime associate of the elusive Ruja Ignatova, saw his bid for freedom denied.

Greenwood, who masterminded the fraudulent project alongside Ignatova, will continue to serve his 20-year prison sentence.

Almost simultaneously, Mark Scott  the discredited lawyer who played a pivotal role in laundering OneCoin’s illicit earnings  faced a similar fate.

His appeal to overturn a conviction for bank fraud and money laundering was swiftly dismissed by the courts, prompting reactions from across the anti-MLM (multi-level marketing) and cryptocurrency watchdog community.

BehindMLM’s Oz: “We All Know He Did It”

Among those voicing their firm stance is Oz, founder and lead investigator of BehindMLM, a leading publication dedicated to exposing fraudulent MLM operations.

Known for his uncompromising reporting style, Oz wasted no time in addressing narratives surrounding Scott’s conviction.

Why are we pretending Konstantin Ignatov’s testimony was the only evidence presented against Scott?” Oz questioned publicly, referring to Ruja Ignatova’s brother, who famously turned government witness.

Oz was quick to remind followers that Mark Scott was found guilty not merely based on Ignatov’s words but on substantial financial records and transactional evidence.

Scott committed both bank fraud and money laundering. The evidence clearly reflects this,” Oz asserted, doubling down on his position. In a particularly pointed remark, he added: I know he did it, you know he did it, Scott knows he did it. The jury concluded Scott did it.”

A Divisive Defence: Duncan Arthur Speaks Out

In a surprising twist, Duncan Arthur  a former OneCoin insider and DealShaker executive  emerged in apparent defence of Mark Scott.

Arthur, a South African lawyer with firsthand knowledge of the OneCoin machine, expressed concerns not about Scott’s guilt, but about the fairness of the trial process.

That Scott is guilty is common ground. That Scott wasn’t maybe properly represented and was potentially procedurally prejudiced is very serious,” Arthur stated.

The phrasing left some observers, including crypto journalists, puzzled. Upon closer analysis, Arthur seemed to be suggesting that while Scott’s guilt is largely uncontested, the integrity of his trial proceedings deserves scrutiny.

According to Arthur’s line of thought, justice should not only be done but be seen to be done, irrespective of the defendant’s character.

This, Arthur implied, introduces a broader conversation about judicial standards in different countries.

He argued: If you’re arguing that the US system gets results whereas England, etc., takes substantive and procedural justice more seriously  and that’s a bad thing  you have a serious problem.”

Arthur appeared to question whether American courts prioritise verdicts over fair process, suggesting such a case might have played out differently in South Africa or Bulgaria, countries closely tied to the OneCoin scandal.

“I have my own issues with Scott, but he didn’t get a fair shake,” Arthur concluded.

Community Divisions Emerge

Arthur’s remarks have added fresh fuel to an already volatile issue.

Many in the OneCoin victims’ community view Arthur’s commentary as dangerously sympathetic to those complicit in the fraud, widening a rift not only between Arthur and BehindMLM’s Oz but also within the wider network of OneCoin whistleblowers and advocates.

Critics argue that Arthur, himself a former insider, appears to show more concern for OneCoin’s enablers than its countless victims, whose lives were upended by the scheme.

His suggestion that a key government witness perjured himself a claim without legal confirmation has been received with skepticism.

As the OneCoin scandal continues to cast a long shadow over the cryptocurrency world, the heated exchanges between former insiders, investigators, and victims’ advocates serve as a reminder of the scheme’s complex and lingering aftermath.

Whether Arthur’s calls for a closer look at Scott’s trial will prompt any official review remains unclear.

For now, both Greenwood and Scott remain behind bars while Ruja Ignatova, the so-called “Cryptoqueen”, remains at large.
